Archbishop Tenison's School

‘Let your light shine before others;
that they may see your good works
and glorify your Father who is in heaven.’ (Matthew 5:16)

Headteacher's Welcome - 2022/23

Wisdom, hope, community and dignity: these are the values we share at Archbishop Tenison’s School.

As a church school, we have a distinctive Christian vision which is ambitious for every child; we want our students to grow so that they might let their light shine before others (Matthew 5:16) in all that they do.

For us, this means providing students with a platform to develop into the successful young adults we know they can be. To achieve this, we ensure that they have the experiences, expert teachers and support needed to excel.

Our ambition for every student is evident in every lesson, every day. Our high quality staff are committed to providing your children with the wisdom to succeed; we believe that every child is entitled to learn the best of what has been thought and said.

Underpinning our academic offer is our Christian ethos, which is felt through regular acts of worship and an outstanding Religious Studies curriculum; this allows all children to experience hope in the confident expectation of what God has promised.

As part of our moral responsibility it is an expectation that everyone contributes to our local community. All students are expected to be positive role models and take part in activities that benefit others. Our Community Matters programme is continuously evolving, allowing students to develop core skills and help our neighbours.

The entire Archbishop Tenison’s School family is treated with dignity. To us this means we act with integrity, respect ourselves and one another, are proud to be a part of the school and treat everyone as we would like to be treated ourselves. Demonstrating this behaviour will stand every student in good stead for today, tomorrow and throughout their future.

I am proud to be the Headteacher at Archbishop Tenison’s School and am confident that you will enjoy getting to know our school and be impressed by our approach to education. I look forward to meeting you in person, answering any questions you might have and telling you more about our historic school.
