English at Tenison's
The English curriculum aims to cultivate passionate, competent and robust individuals who allow their light to shine.
In English we develop wisdom by developing the skills needed to strive within the classroom and the wider world. Students also demonstrate wisdom through their ability to analyse, evaluate, compare and create meaningful interpretations.
Hope is illustrated through their respectful discourse and their willingness to learn from others. In English, community is demonstrated through a sense of belonging. It is created through the opportunities provided by texts to explore ourselves and others and our place within society.
Dignity is at the forefront of our departmental goals as it reminds us to aspire and celebrate successes and growth. Dignity is taught by our ability to introduce new concepts, challenge and develop existing perspectives in hopes of cultivating well-informed learners.
At Archbishop Tenison's, our curriculum has been developed with a clear focus on the core knowledge we think every child should learn.
Our Knowledge Tracker maps when knowledge is taught and how it is built upon over time.
