ICT
It is often said that ICT is at the cutting edge of developments within society. At Archbishop Tenison's School the ICT Department strives to build a framework of ICT knowledge and skills which equips each student with the ability to use ICT as a problem solving tool and as an integral part of lessons. Network rooms are equipped with the latest hardware and a large selection of multimedia software, both general and subject specific. There are three network rooms available for pupils to use, and the facilities allow each pupil to use a computer without the need to share within a lesson. Pupils have access to the network rooms for private study at lunchtimes and after school.
ICT is one of the core subjects at Key Stage 3 and is an option subject at Key Stage 4 where GCSE Applied ICT is currently taught. This is a double award subject that focuses on the business use of ICT. Pupils have the option of taking the complementary GCSE in Applied Business at the end of Year 11. At Key Stage 5 ICT A Level is offered, together with Business GNVQ. The CLAITT Level 2 course is taught to all Year 12 students so that they all have a qualification in ICT which is recognised in industry.
The Department runs a variety of enrichment courses, which include basic web design for Years 7-11 and a video editing club will be starting in the Summer Term 2004.
