Citizenship

Citizenship is a relatively new subject to Archbishop Tenison's. Citizenship education should help pupils to understand the rights and responsibilities they have as members of society.

At KS3 citizenship is taught though the curriculum, as well as being delivered as part of the PSE programme.

At KS4 boys study for the OCR short course GCSE in Citizenship. This requires 2 pieces of coursework and an exam. The coursework encourages boys to be active within their community and gives them the opportunity to be involved in a campaign that is close to their hearts.

Citizenship incorporates a variety of topics and is taught through diverse learning styles

Topics include:

  • Rights and Responsibilities
  • Human Rights
  • Voting and Democracy
  • Learning about Parliament and Government
  • Media and the Free Press
  • Voluntary Groups
  • Consumers, Employers and Employees Rights
  • Global Citizenship
  • The Legal System
